Bibi Awal- Solutions to engage at home

Solutions to Engage in at Home:
Turn off appliances not in use, turn off lights when they are not needed, turn water off if not in use or turn it to a lower pressure, shower more often than bathing. Take quicker showers. If the water takes too long to turn hot in the morning, just use medium water. Water plants individually instead of doing everything at once with a hose. Handwash clothes or take them to a laundromat.

Bibi Awal: Activities at home

Activities at Home:
In the morning, the first stop I make is at the bathroom. before i go to the bathroom, I have to turn on the light in the hallway, and then when I reach the bathroom I turn the light on there. I probably spend fifteen minutes in the bathroom because I am lazy in the morning. Who isn't?
When I come home everyday, the first thing I probably do is turn my computer on, then I go to the bathroom and then  go to the kitchen. When I turn on my computer, I'm not sure whether it has enough charge so I keep the line plugged in. When I go to the bathroom, I turn the light on, use the toilet, wash my hands. then go eat, and wash my dishes later. I mostly use hot water, especially for my showers which can last from 15 to 45 minutes (45 if I am washing my hair). It takes a while for my water to get hot in the morning, so I leave the water running for an entire two minutes until it turns hot. During the summer, my parents tend to the garden in the backyard (it's probably the size of room 410A) and when they do water the plants, they use a hose. When the laundry is done, we use a washing machine but no dryer due to a lack of space and money.

My Stuff by Andrew De Jesus

In my closet I have about 27 shirts which come from different parts of the world. 12 come from china, 8 come from Guatemala, 4 come from Bangladesh, and 3 come from right here in the USA.  When I am done with these clothes they will end up in a box that my mom gets and ships of to DR where they will be taken to church or any other place where help is given and will be distributed by my cousins and friends in DR.
My sweaters, jackets, and jeans all come from china. Like my shirts they will be donated to the poor people in DR once I’m done with them.
My school supplies like pens, pencils, and paper all come from china. Unlike my clothes these items won’t be donated. The pens and pencils will be thrown away in the garbage. My paper will be recycled and used again one way or another. Lastly my notebooks will never be thrown out or given away. I will keep them for the future.
Most if not all of my electronics were made in china. They will most likely stay with me forever as long as they still work. But if they were to get damaged I would probably see if there are any parts worth keeping, selling, or reusing. The rest would end up either in the garbage or somewhere where someone can recycle it.

Engaging in Climate Change at School by Andrew De Jesus

Just to get to school I waste energy by taking a 40 minute drive to get there. But in the school is where I see some good things that actually help our world and in this school I also see things that are hurting it. An example of something good is that in almost every room in the school you can find a garbage bin that is there to put paper and wastes that will then be recycled and reused in one way or another. Also, I see a lot of posters and flyers about these problems that we are phasing now which is great since it is a good way to spread the word. Now some of the negative things about this school. For one there are many rooms that are filled with almost 30 computers that are always on. I have 6 classes and out of those 6 classes 3 of them have computers that are always on no matter what. In one of these classes we do not even use computers but they are on anyways. Also, the lights in the rooms of many classrooms are always on which are a huge waste of energy. Another problem that I see is the paper and school supplies that go to waste due to the fact that many students don’t take care of things. The solutions to these problems are quite simple. That is to shut down the computers whenever they are not in use and to turn off all the lights when no one is in the room.

Engaging in Climate Change At Home #2 by Andrew De Jesus

Since starting this project and educating myself on climate change, energy use, and more I have taken this serious and made changes in my household that are sure to reduce energy use. For one I now use ENERGY STAR light bulbs on all my lamps which is suppose to last longer than normal light bulbs and waste a lot less energy than normal light bulbs. Also, after I leave any room in the house I turn off all the lights that are not needed. My computer is still always on but that is because it is always in use unlike my TV and Xbox 360 which off most of the time. I have encouraged my mom to slowly change the kitchen appliances to ENERGY STAR appliances and so far we have 3 ENERGY STAR appliances. Now when doing laundry we only use cold water. I have taken down my personal AC and sold it. With the money that I got from the AC I bought a fan. This change is now reducing the amount of energy that is used in my house while keeping me comfortable and not hot. I still use hot water when in the bathroom but I am more conscious of the time that I spend in there and now spend less time in the bathroom. In the kitchen I started using cold water only to both cook and clean. My mother and I have been doing our best to recycle more and reuse even more than we used to. I have also told many of my neighbors, friends, and family about the effect that they have on the world and how easy it is to make some minor changes and doing a lot of good for the earth. Most of them have started to make some changes in their own homes. I still use the train and buses to get where I am going but have stopped taking cabs. Lastly we are always trying to reduce, reuse, recycle, and get the word out.

Engaging in Climate Change At Home #1 by Andrew De Jesus

At my house we tend to not pay attention to the resources we use since its only 2 people who live in this house (my mother and I). My house is a fairly small one with 2 bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen. In my house there are 2 huge lamps in the living room that take 5 light bulbs and in the ceiling of the rooms and kitchen are 2 lights. The lights in my house are almost always on even when nobody is in the room. Also, my computer and TV are always on even when no one is using it. When doing laundry we normally use both cold and warm water depending on the color of the clothes. The kitchen appliances are not ENERGY STAR appliances which mean that the ones we have are using more energy than other appliances. An electronic device that is always connected is my Xbox 360. During most parts of the year the AC is constantly in use even during winter while the heat is on. I am the one who keeps the AC on most of the time since I prefer the cold then heat. When it comes to means of transportation we normally go in trains and buses. But on some occasions we would take cabs. Both my mother and I take 40 minute train rides every morning to get to school or in my mom’s case job. When in the bathroom or in the kitchen we use hot water. The only time cold water is in use is when either my mom or I is cooking. Something positive that my mother and I do is recycle all bottles, plastics, or any other recyclable objects that we no longer need. We also reuse anything as much as possible. We also take steps to reducing the items we need while satisfying whatever we do. Lastly, we try to get things that will last long in order to save and not waste energy

Bibi Awal- Task 3

Climate change is phrase used to describe immense changes in temperature, rainfall, snow or wind patterns that last for decades or longer. The reasons for climate change are human related and natural. As Jack London tried to prove in his short story “To Build a Fire,” man is fragile against nature. However, man also has power to destroy Earth, and bears the responsibility to protect it for the current generation and generations to come. Climate change has been an ongoing issue for decades, yet very few people can detect the significance of it.
At the rate that climate change is happening at the moment, natural disasters will become a daily occurrence in the future. The contributions to climate change that humans are making include but are not limited to: burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests, and developing land for farms, cities and roads. Doing these kinds of things increase the amount of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases trap heat and keep the planet warm, but too much of it can be really harmful because the earth is overheating, causing polar ice caps to melt and sea levels to rise. The results of climate change are heat waves, decreased snowfall, and changing wildlife habitats, intense storms, wildfires, and floods. These disasters cause massive damage, and high repair costs.
The rise of sea levels is what’s causing floods and worse tsunamis. Animals like polar bears that are used to living on ice, must now learn how to swim and live underwater in order to adjust to climate change. Elsewhere, water is being dried up due to the heat and there are droughts. Droughts affect farmers because they depend on growing their crops to make a living. If there is no water to feed to their crops, they won’t survive. Droughts also affect fishermen, ponds and oceans are drying up and the fish that need water to breathe are dying rapidly.
The effects of climate change are attacking the poor and weak people instead of the ones who cause it, the big guy Corporations, who for some reason don’t know where else to dump their waste, and for some reason can not use other sources of energy. Floods and monsoon rains have become a daily event in Nepal. Cyclones and floods are happening on a regular basis in Bangladesh. These disasters contribute to the spread of dangerous diseases, food shortage, and decrease in literacy. Corporations need to cut their emissions because in the long run, it is the small developing countries that are suffering the consequences.
There is a way to solve the issue of climate change. If we do everything step by step, slowly we will see the changes. Finding and using environmental friendly sources of energy, and cutting emissions in half would help. Poverty and illiteracy would be cut in half. We can wake up to a clear blue sky and experience normal weather patterns.

Above is a picture demonstrating the Greenhouse Effect.

Buy Nothing Day (What is it? Why is it? Who’s behind it? Are you?)(EXTRA CREDIT POST) By Andrew De Jesus

Buy Nothing Day also known as BND is an international day of protest. A day where people get together to protest consumerism. Consumerism is the expansion of peoples wants and needs for goods and services. It is also the action of groups, individuals and government to protect consumers from policies and rules that disobey with the rights of consumers to fair business practices [3]. BND is also a day where a person does not shop or spend on anything and a day where you can stop to think about the spending you do while relaxing.BND was created as a day for people to do nothing at all but think and reflect. BND started in the 1990s buy Ted Dave in Canada.BND is social activists who are together acting out on consumerism [1].  This first happened in Mexico in 1992 where the people of BND wanted people to take a look at the over-consumption.BND is now a days on the day after Thanksgiving which is also called “Black Friday.” The reason for this is because on Black Friday prices are extremely low and everything is on sale. Black Friday is one of the 10 busiest shopping days in the US. BND started out just in Canada working on their plans but it has spread and is now protested in over 65 nations including the US, UK, German, and Japan. BND is a day of protest so there are always different activities and protest that go on [2]. BND do credit card cut up, where they go in front of shopping malls and public places and cut their credit cards as a message of credit card debt.  As form of protest BND do street parties, sit-ins, public protest, BND hike, BND paddle long, winter coat exchange where people donate coats and anyone who needs one can take it. Other things that are done are zombie walks which are when BND walk around malls like zombies and when asked what they are doing they explain what BND is. Also, something called Whirl- mart, which is when BND protesters get shopping carts and make something like a conga line and they follow each other around with the carts [3].  Despite the fact that I believe what BND do is really interesting, effective, and fascinating how they do things, I am not involved in it. If anything I am what BND is fighting against because I am a person who gets the newest IPod or newest phone. I also like to participate on Black Friday and get things on sales.

This picture is supporting Buy Nothing Day by encouraging people to not shop. While saying that they are things that a person can do to better their time then shopping.

Solutions you can engage in (What can we do as consumers to help reduce the impact of climate change and promote sustainability) By Andrew De Jesus

In this world we are heading towards a very dark place. Where global warming, climate change, and more factors are destroying our planet. For now there is still time to change our ways and be part of the many solutions available. First let’s start with what we can do to start saving our planet. Everyone in this world affect greenhouse gasses because of the energy we use like driving, heating our home, and with the energy we use to light our home.[1]
One way to help in your home is to change your light bulbs to ENERGY STAR light bulbs, not only will you be saving money but you will be reducing gas emissions every year. When buying for appliances for your home look for ENERGY STAR items, these items save a lot of energy and save a lot of gas emissions. Next try to seal and insulate your home by sealing air leaks, if buying windows buy ENERGY STAR, and work on better insulation. Next you should use green power which is electricity that is created with renewable energy source like wind and sun. A very important thing to work on is to reuse, reduce, and recycle. By recycling newspapers, beverage containers, paper and other goods you can help out the world in a big way. Lastly for things in the house that can help the planet is using water efficiently and always spread the word to family and friends.[2]
While in the office there are some things that can be done to help fight climate change as well. One would be to manage office equipment energy better. Also, when buying equipment for the office make sure it is ENERGY STAR. Next find out if your building has earned an ENERGY STAR which would mean that the building uses 35%less energy then others and try to find out what is needed to get an ENERGY STAR. And like you should do in your home you should also do in the office which is recycle, reuse, and reduce. In school environment there are 3 types of people in the school who can do something about climate change and it is the students, the teachers, and the administrators. For students what they can do is learn about climate change and how to prevent it, investigate the connection of climate change and the schools affect on it, use Portfolio Manager to keep track on the energy the school uses, and lastly in college they can reduce energy use in dorm rooms and get involved with climate change. For the teachers they are in charge of teaching their students about climate change, getting the students interested and involved with solutions on how to stop climate change, and lastly learn from other teachers and how they do things. Administrators play an important role in this as well because their decisions can directly affect climate change and gas emissions. Administrators have to save money and energy on things and they have to recycle used school supplies like paper, batteries, electronic equipments, and more. So we already know the huge problem in climate change but now after reading this we know the solutions all that’s left is to take action.[3]

In this picture you see the different ways that you can help fight climate change and the change that it will make. This picture, like my post, is encouraging people to live a life that doesn’t hurt the environment.

engaging in climate change(as a nation)

Our world is undergoing climate change issues do to the humans on this earth. So how can the ones come together to create solutions to the problem we cause?Well we have to realize our mistakes and coming together as a nation and discussing this can help.We in our country use allot of carbon- based things to power our houses, heat up our buildings, help people get to places using transportation, and making more products in factories. We have coal fired power plants, which are the biggest source of mankind's carbon dioxide emissions.Coal energy is the most singlest threat facing our climate today. This is a big problem, since we use this as our main source of powering up our country. We need another objective, another safer, more better way to use our power for the earth. We as a nation can join other communities around the world to help fight against this and quit using the coal powered plants. If we want to save our nation from disaster, flooding, widespread drought, and most importantly a massive population displacement because of the possibility of the sea levels rising, we need to come together as a nation and ALL agree to make the change.Or they should start producing more safer options and ban these coals from powering our stuff. We need to the global temperature rise below zero degrees. We need an energy revolution that substitutes the wind, solar energy efficiency and other modern technologies as a substitute for the coal power plants. But the governments all around the world wants to make more of these because if they didnt they would stop the production of these power plants by giving permission for industries to spend billions of dollars to make hundreds of them.If they keep building more and more of them, the carbon emissions can rise from sixty to percent by the year 2030.This needs to be stopped and our nation can do it if we realize the seriousness and just work together.Working with more people and having allot more action done about this will play a bigger role in these movements. We can all do friendly but firm protests to show this and campiagns. We can all write to the president to reduce our ecological footprint, which is the measurement of what we all personally consume and how it leaves the earth in what conditions. After all, us humans only take up about four percent of the world's population but yet we still consume about twenty-six percent of all it's resources and if we keep this up we can not only damage the earth but we can rob others of their resources and there will be hardly anything left for anyone.

This is a picture of some coal - fired power plant towers, which is our main reason for climate change.

engaging in climate change(in my neighborhood)

There are many ways to improve our world and help fight against climate change and those things or people that are harming our earth and it starts with teamwork. Two voices are stronger than one,and even though one voice can stand out,it takes a much higher power to save our earth, and it starts with making a difference in our neighborhood.Getting together with our neighbors and trying to make a difference can really help out our environment. Some ways we can improve our ecosystem as-well as improveing the earth is by volenteer work. Our neighborhoods can get together to discuss some of the issues in climate change and how we can make this known to others and address the problems to our families and then we can take the initiatives to make the necessary adjustments to our community. We can all volenteer to help plant more trees, as-well as plants and flowers.More oxegen is always better for our environment, since there are so much daily pollutants going into the air and so much carbon dioxide emissions,we need more oxygen to breathe. We also have to be aware if we are planting them in the right places.Tree planting can be a good method for offsetting some of the carbon emmisions. Forrests can cool the planet by absorbing the greenhouse gasses during the process of photosynthesis. They can also help cool our planet by evaporating water to the atmosphere and increasing cloudiness. If we have allot of white clouds, they can reflect incoming solar radiation back to outer space.Trees also have allot of sun hitting on them first since they are so high up,and because they are dark and take allot of the sun, they can hold the heat to near the ground level. We can also volunteer in our neigghborhoods to clean up the garbages in parks and streets, and make a deal not to pollute.Polluting in parks and on streets makes our climate worse because these can travel when it rains or when the air blows it, causing most of our garbage to go to the waters like the oceans and killing some of the animals and making some we eat get sickly. Also when they collect the garbage they burn it to get rid of it and that goes into the air, polluting the air we breathe and causing the climate to get warmer.

We can try to make it one of our goals to get our wastes together from scraps of foods and bannana peels and give it to our trees and plants by making compost to make our trees more healthier and help fertilize the earth's soils.Agreeing to walk more with our neighbors and making a deal to ride more our bikes rather than taking public transportation helps us save more energy and helps us reduce carbon emmisions in the air and other pollutants that are caused by burning fossil fuels. And if we have our own cars,we can decide to use it less by walking. This saves the climate much more from getting into dangerous, real hot temperatures and helps save others and our ecosystems by us getting together as a team.We can also get together with our neighbors and discuss our ecological carbon footprints. This way we can know how much energy we are using in our homes and determine footprint reduction goals. This also helps us so we can be aware of the dangers we are doing to the earth and each discuss how we can improve our lifestyles.Having people agree to get together and clean up our neighborhoods and the garbage in the parks improves the earth and this is another plan we can make with my neighborhood.Having a harmless protest is a way to enforce these laws and help convince others and change their attitudes of the way they look at the earth next time they are going to make a choice to pollute or something of that sort.We as a neighborhood can go online and join a climate change action group.Getting together and writing down with our neighbors what we can do to affect climate change in a positive way and discussing how to improve can help change our climate for the better.

engaging in climate change(at home)

There are many different ways to be apart of going against climate change and it starts with the way we live at home. The better we can take care of our earth starts with the households of all and how we can do our best to save energy. Some ways that we conserve energy already in my house is by unpluging all of our appliances when not in use.My mom always tells us to do this in our house so that we can save on our bills, but little do we realize or keep in mind that this is also helping us conserve energy.Another thing we do is turn off all the lights in the rooms we are not useing at the time or is not occupied. There are also many things that we can do in my family to improve our saving on energy. For example,in my family,we take very long showers at times, and there are more than two people in our house,so thats allot of water.Instead of taking long showers,to save energy on our water,we can shorten those showers to a matter of five minutes. This way,we save our time and energy.I also am not aware sometimes that when I get up in the morning to brush my teeth,i let the water run long as im brushing my teeth. But instead,i can just close the water when brushing my teeth and only use it when i am going to rinse. This way,i save that energy. Also, when our family is going to do laundry, either at home or at the laundromat,we mostly wash our clothes in cold or warm water, which is a good thing, because we also save energy in this way.To improve i would say that we should do more to wash our clothes in cold water. As we know, water and energy are closely related. It takes allot of energy to heat and pump water, and it also takes allot of water to cool systems that generate energy.Things we can do to further benefit the earth at home can be to conduct a water audit in our facility. This way,we can find out where the water we are using is being used and where its being wasted. Our buildings consume of more than twenty percent of the worlds available water. We also can be aware of how much we flush the tiolet in our bathrooms. But besides water,we can also be aware in my house of not leaving the air conditioner on for too long, and if we are going to use it in the summer,we make sure to put it on the option that says "energy saver".We can also use solar power to help heat up our house instead of heaters or anything else. When we burn fossil fuels like coal, natural gas and oil,it makes allot of carbon dioxide that is released into the atmospher, causing hram to the earth. Conserving energy in our household helps benifit the enviornment by decreasing that harm it is causing to the enviornment.Saving energy wont garentee anything about saving the earth perfectly in everyway, but it does help prolongue the process of all our ecosystems collapsing because of our over use of fossil fuels that cant be renewable.

Here in this picture, this is one option of conserving energy in the lightbulb you choose.Chooseing florescent lights saves energy.

engaging in climate change(at school)

How can we as a school community involve ourselves in trying to fix the problem of climate change at our school community? It is very important to our environment and to the earth that we involve ourselves in this climate change issue before its to late. How much greenhouse gases do we use in school? This is something to think about.I think we start off good by using more florescent lights.According to the earth policy institute, if the United States shifted entirely from incandescent to compact fluorescent light bulbs, we could shut down eighty coal-fired (five hundred MW) power plants!Florescent lights are a smart choice to use because they are known to save more energy than regular lightbulbs and even last longer.According to the Union of Concerned Scientists,if every U.S. household replaced just one regular incandescent light bulb with a compact florescent light bulb, it would prevent ninety billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions from power plants, the equivalent of taking seven point five million cars off the road.We can also save enough energy to light up more than two point five million homes every year! So if we make the change at school, think about how much energy we could be saving! And it would be good for the earth. We can also try our best to all go to school walking or riding our bikes. We save allot of the energy that is needed to take public transportation daily and avoid all the burning carbon emissions going into the air by taking a vehicle.Other ways we can also help the climate go down is by the temperature we have in our classrooms.By keeping our classrooms and schools' thermostat at a temperature of sixty eightdegrees when it is around winter time and seventy eight degrees when it is summer can reduce carbon dioxide emissions too. This way, we can reuduce about two thousand pounds of carbon dioxide a year.Staying informed by taking classes or joining after school activities which involve your time in helping the environment at school can also help with us kids in school to get involved with the earth and become aware of the circumstances that are involved with the climate and enviornmental issues. If we do this, we become more aware of these problems if they are adressed to us in school. Maybe one plan we could have for our school is for the school to have a class on climate change where we discuss the earth's problems and clean parks, make compost. This way, we can be motivated to actually do something about it.An issue i know for a fact we have in school is paper. We take paper for granted, have to write too much notes in all our classes, then in homework. My advice to the students who have computers is too use them as much as possible for all the homeworks and classworks they have and we can also have more computer classes. The average highschool student uses about twenty to thirty pages of paper per week, not including the amount of paper us students use for the notes we use to pass to each other in class! As we know, paper comes from trees and this is an issue because if we use too much, this involves the cutting down and wasting of trees, which is used to absorb most of the carbon dioxide in the air causing climate change.A single tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. This is why it is so important to plant trees and not waste paper in school. So in school, we should have recycle bins in all our classes and only have garbage bins in the lunch room. That way we recycle more.

This is a picture paper and since this is being abused,it is showing how we should recycle paper to help the earth.

Questions:

Introductions (introductory posts) post #1

1) *Intro to the Problem of Climate Change *
*There are many reasons why climate in the world changes. These reasons
most likely lead to disaster and do not benefit the earth or the people in
it. Most of the time, climate change is due to the cause of pollution by us
humans. Some of these Climate changers are the burning of fossil fuels to
warm up homes, helps transportation and factories, deforistation, and
industrial admmisions, aswell as green house gases. The earth's gases like
water vapor and carbon dioxide, play an important role in deciding the
earth’s temperature that even as little as one degree more can affect us
all. Pollution and gases such as these release carbon dioxide and other
pollutions in the air, warming earth up more and more, causing sea level to
rise, glaciers to melt, temperatures of large lakes to warm, and heavier
rainfall that can cause flooding. This can cause people to lose their main
water supply from galciers, limiting food, causing many to get sick and
die. This can also cause flooding, leading to death many. Climate change can
eventually kill many, and dangerously risking lives of all species. The
weather and the seasons change all the time, this is a part of the way earth
works, but it can eventually get much worse. You can’t always see it, this is
why it’s dangerous, because people become unaware to these changes and continue
to hurt the earth. As a result of this the earth gets warmer, also causing more
and more worse storms and even Xsunamis.Because earth's air, water, and land are
linked to the climate, any changes to the air, land or water from the green
house gases due to us humans by burning the fossil fuels can affect us more
since we are affecting the earth, this makes these normal seasonal changes and
weather changes to happen more faster and bigger, spinning more out of control
and negatively affecting our planet. As our climate gets warmer, rain patterns
are starting to change, sea level rises, and the snow and ice are melting faster
than it should be doing in the spring. Less rain means that there is less water,
therefore limiting main resources for many people who depend on it the most. Or,
climate change can cause more rain, that causes flooding that can kill many.Or,
it can make the earth really hot and dry up people's crops and main source of
food that they grow and can even sell to others so that they can supply others
with food. This can also make animals sicker since it is really hot and
unbearable for them.

In this picture, there is a small earth that is on fire, on a hand,
representing the earth that can eventually lead to destruction from pollutions
like the green-house gases and other emissions that can be harmful to the earth
and everyone in it. The world is in our hands, basically saying we are
responsible to help save it.references:

*Homework*: 1. Reflect on Nic Marks' presentation we watched Oct. 26 &
27th. How does this project, in your assessment address his concern about
the "I have a nightmare" scenario? Re-watch the video if necessary. 2. Post
your reflection in your Google Group (see email from today)
I think Nic Marks' presentation has allot in connection with this
project. It tries to adress the common needs of improving your lifestyle in
order to satisfy and protect the earth by adressing problems made aware by
the "Ecological Footprint", described to help us be aware of how much
energy we are using and how we can improve our lives by improving that of
the earth's aswell as our's.When we do this we can shoot for our goal
of making earth better instead of having a so called "nightmare",damiging
earth and ourselves by not satisfying our want of being happy. As mentioned
we do so by making ourselves happy by connecting with family and friends to
improving earths atmosphere by being aware of the conditions of the earth
and how we can conserve resources. This is similar to our project because we
are discussing the effects climate change has on our society today, what are
the causes of it,how it affects us and how we can fix it to better the
earth.

Summary on this project

This project really made me think about the earth and made me aware of the problems we are facing today with the climate.I think that this project benefited us.It probably motivated the class to save the earth by making little changes daily that can slowly progress the way the earth runs and its temperature. The things i researched were about how to make a difference at your neighborhood,at school,at home, and as a nation.Other changes in earth can affect us as the population and society in general. This is why we have to act as a whole and cooperate together to convince everyone that they can make a difference in the planet they live on by shutting down appliances and lights when not in use, recycling, not wasting paper, cleaning up garbage, and not polluting just to name a few ways we can help improve the earth's climate and keeping it from overheating. This will help us to understand what it means to protect the earth, what we can do about it,and have an update of our earth so we can be aware and be motivated to make the daily nessecary steps in saving our earth. We can use less paper in school, use more florescent lights, and keep the temperature at sixty eight degrees in the summer, keep it in school at seventy eight degrees in the winter, that way we save more energy and reduce carbon emissions. Some ways to help improve our neighborhood by joining a climate change group online as a neighborhood, planting more trees together, which one asborbs a ton of carbon dioxide its life span , discussing our ecological carbon footprints and writing down what we need to improve can also help us as a neighborhood to improve the climate. And at home, conserving water is very important to the earths energy. It is a nessesity to all of us and other living organisms in the ecosystems. This project showed us what was really important to us all if we are living on this planet, we shouldn't harm and hurt it because we as people are the main cause to climate change getting hotter and melting glaciers which are the main source of some people's water supply.Carbon emissions from cars and bad greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels we use for heating up our houses and the amount of energy we use daily pollute the air and jeopardize all the animals, insects and humans.Other things we can do to help the environment is take shorter showers.Letting the water run is something we shouldn't do.Water is very connected to energy and the more water we use the more the climate is at stake. To improve i would say that we should do more to wash our clothes in cold water. This helps us save washing in cold or at least warm water. We can also use solar power to help heat up our house instead of heaters or anything else. When we burn fossil fuels like coal, natural gas and oil,it makes allot of carbon dioxide that is released into the atmosphere, causing hram to the earth. Conserving energy in our household helps benefit the enviornment by decreasing that harm it is causing to the environment. Some effects of climate change if we don't do these things are melting glacirs and less food, potentially starving the humans and many dying aswell as animals and insects, and rising sea levels and decreased snow cover in the northern hemisphere. These things to help change this and improve the earth's enviornment are some of the things i learned about and took to mind when i was doing research for this project.

This is the effects of climate change on our world when the earths heats up drastically, melting the glaciers.
